On the road again. Set lists and road cases. The Doors, Aerosmith, Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver.

April 9, 2014 by evpcd

Sometimes you get bored with collecting. At least I do. Collecting what everyone else does. Chasing the same things. Bidding in the same auctions. This for me usually leads to frustration, which usually leads to focusing on an area of collecting that I haven’t had much interest in, and maybe others aren’t paying any attention to. It also means opening my eyes to wonderful new pieces I have ignored in the past. It usually broadens my collection, and if I’m […]

Slash comes to the House of Blues in Boston, July 8, 2013. I was there, and so was my daughter.

July 10, 2013 by evpcd

Last August I caught Slash and Myles Kennedy at the House of Blues in Boston. It was just as hot then as it was Monday night. This time I took my 21 year old to her first Slash show. Aside from being doused with beer , being pushed and shoved, and witnessing a drug deal gone bad, I’d say she had a pretty decent time. Bad parenting? She took most of the pictures here. It helps when you paid for […]

The lost art of bass drum head design. Bring back 70’s, 80’s and hell, might as well bring back the 20’s.

February 25, 2013 by evpcd

So about a year or so ago I had the pleasure of being able to buy a few drum heads from Joey Kramer’s collection. After I purchased them, I became obsessed with buying drum heads. It occurred to me what a lost art form this in fact was. When you think about it, it’s really one of the first forms of music marketing. A logo or design that sits on the bass drum acts like a billboard for the band. […]

“Welcome To My Jungle.” Some rare Guns N’ Roses memorabilia.

April 4, 2012 by evpcd

I’ve been fortunate in my years in advertising to have met some pretty cool people. Like say, Slash for instance. I’ve always been a HUGE Guns N’ Roses and Slash fan. Their critically acclaimed debut album “Appetite for Destruction” is still one of my top five favorite rock albums. Most if not all critics agree it set the bar for heavy metal rock in the 80’s. I just finished up a TV campaign for the L.A. Zoo promoting a new […]

Okay…you’ve seen what I have, here’s some stuff I want.

February 15, 2012 by evpcd

Figured it might be time after to maybe post some pictures and descriptions of some things I’m looking to add to my collection. Most of what I’m looking for can be best described as what I don’t know about. It’s always more fun and exciting to stumble upon something you’ve never seen or heard of before. But, there are some items I would love to add to my collection. If you have any of these items or know where they […]

Aerosmith’s Joey Kramer. Car lover, sushi fanatic, one of rock’s greatest drummers and now a coffee baron.

July 11, 2009 by evpcd

I had the pleasure of meeting Joey a few times now, the first was at The Boston Music Awards, shown above. For more than 30 years Joey Kramer has combined emotional feel with technical virtuosity to convey the musical ideas of his band mates in Aerosmith while evolving into one of rock’s greatest drummers. His meticulous timing and solid grooves have contributed as much to the sound of Aerosmith albums such as “Toys In The Attic,” “Rocks,” “Permanent Vacation,” “Pump,” […]

Way before Guitar Hero, real plastic guitars.

May 22, 2009 by evpcd

Years before the Guitar Hero craze kids actually played sort of real guitars to emulate their Guitar Heroes like Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison. Manufacturers like Selcol Industries of England made plastic guitars in all shapes and sizes for fans emblazoned with facsimile autographs and pictures of The Stones and The Beatles on them. Back in the 60’s these would sell for under $10. Today the Stones guitar is worth in the area of […]

Aerosmith’s “Nine Lives.” These cats live forever.

April 26, 2009 by evpcd

Nine Lives is the twelfth studio album by America’s hardest rock band Aerosmith, released in 1997. The album was produced by Aerosmith and Kevin Shirley, and was the band’s first studio album released by Columbia Records since 1982’s Rock in a Hard Place. It peaked at #1 at the Billboard Charts. One of the album’s singles, “Pink”, won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. The booklet for Nine Lives contains 12 pieces of […]
