35 years ago today, The Rolling Stones release what’s considered their last great album. Tattoo You.

August 24, 2016 by evpcd

From rollingstone.com For too many years it’s seemed almost impossible for the Rolling Stones to make an album that hasn’t involved — at least partially — the problem of being the Rolling Stones. This difficulty dogged them throughout the Seventies — it’s part of the responsibility of having lasted so long, I guess — and they responded to both it and their audience’s need for constant redefinition with snideness (who wants to be told that “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll”?), subterfuge […]

Has the “sharpie” changed autograph collecting forever?

March 29, 2016 by evpcd

This post could potentially raise some eyebrows. So I’ll say the opinions here are mine. And in the big scheme of things don’t mean shit. Ok here goes…. “Sharpie” was originally a name designating a permanent marker launched in 1964 by the Sanford Ink Company. The Sharpie also became the first pen-style permanent marker. Hard to believe this has been around since the mid 60’s. You don’t see many autographs from this period in sharpie or permanent marker. The first recollection I […]

Vinyl on HBO. My newest obsession.

February 28, 2016 by evpcd

You MUST. WATCH. THIS. PERIOD. Created by Mick Jagger & Martin Scorsese & Rich Cohen and Terence Winter, this new drama series is set in 1970s New York. A ride through the sex- and drug-addled music business at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop, the show is seen through the eyes of a record label president, Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale, who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path. Additional […]

Selling or trading things you swore would die with you, to buy other stuff you swear will die with you.

October 12, 2015 by evpcd

With us crazy collectors the hunt for “stuff” is never over. With me while I can say, ” Yeah I’ve been looking for one of these or one of those for years.” I find it’s more about what’s out there that I don’t know about. What I have never seen before and don’t even know exists. That’s the thrilling and exciting part of the hunt for me. Finding stuff and being offered pieces that I’ve never seen. Over the years […]

Mick’s Maraca, Mick’s Pants, Keith’s leather jacket and Keith’s Pirate shirt. Authenticating stuff that hard to authenticate.

June 19, 2015 by evpcd

One of the most difficult of items to authenticate are items owned and used by artists and bands. Clothing, equipment, personal items often don’t come with the best documentation, provenance or photos. Even dealers and reputable auction houses often are not able to supply the necessary information and background a collector might need in order for him or her to feel confident about making what is usually a pricey purchase. I’ve been fortunate enough over the years to have been […]

The Rolling Stones perform on Ready, Steady, Go! November 22, 1963. After their performance they hear President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

April 24, 2015 by evpcd

November 22, 1963. Most of us remember that day. Not because The Rolling Stones made their second appearance on the teen show Ready, Steady Go! Because the excitement was dampened by the shocking news they heard after their performance. President John F. Kennedy had been shot in Dallas Texas. The following items are extremely rare. A historically significant set of Stones signatures on a very rare and unique item. A ticket from that Ready, Steady, Go! show. Signed on that […]

I know why Mick and Keith gave Gram Parsons their pants, he didn’t have any.

March 12, 2015 by evpcd

A completely weird story. Another eBay find. Listed as Mick Jagger’s pants, given to Gram Parsons as a gift. Like who would want these besides me? So I bookmark the page, watched and waited. No takers. When stuff like this shows up on eBay and it often does, it usually doesn’t sell. It’s easy to assume they’re fake with no reasonable back up or provenance. Opening bid was $2000. Not cheap if you don’t know. I emailed my friend Jeff […]

Eric Easton hopes The Rolling Stones will be accepted by the American public.

January 25, 2015 by evpcd

In these two original signed letters written by Eric Easton to Paul Drew of Esquire Radio and Broadcasting he expresses his hopes that the American public will accept and embrace The Rolling Stones as they embark on their very first American tour in 1964. He describes them as a “great bunch of individuals you will find them so different from The Beatles in every respect.” Yes, he was right. Here’s a photo of Paul Easton and Mick. Paul Drew, one […]
