Nirvana sucks according to this ridiculously rare Kurt Cobain guitar case.

October 19, 2016 by evpcd

*Note the deep indentations inside the case from clearly a left handed guitar in a right handed case. Very Kurt.  This incredibly unique, highly decorated case originally housed Kurt’s Washburn Force 2 guitar. This guitar was used for a very brief period of time in the late 1989. It was built in Japan and featured black finish with a matching headstock color, rosewood fretboard, and a humbucker in the bridge position. Kurt smashed it on December 3rd, 1989 at Astoria Theatre. This […]

What eBay could learn from Etsy. The art of the sell.

September 12, 2016 by evpcd

I’ve been a member of eBay since November of 1997. Yeah, a long time. Done literally hundreds and hundreds of transactions both as a buyer and seller. For the most part most have gone well. I have flawless feedback somewhere in the 1000’s. And yeah, been scammed a few times. Had my share of of dealing with miserable sellers. As well as being a disgruntled buyer a few times. But overall can’t really complain. Until now. Collecting isn’t a hobby with me, […]

35 years ago today, The Rolling Stones release what’s considered their last great album. Tattoo You.

August 24, 2016 by evpcd

From rollingstone.com For too many years it’s seemed almost impossible for the Rolling Stones to make an album that hasn’t involved — at least partially — the problem of being the Rolling Stones. This difficulty dogged them throughout the Seventies — it’s part of the responsibility of having lasted so long, I guess — and they responded to both it and their audience’s need for constant redefinition with snideness (who wants to be told that “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll”?), subterfuge […]

Shining Time Station, and a Shining example of a killer early style Ringo autograph.

June 21, 2016 by evpcd

Shining Time Station is an American children’s television series jointly created by British television producer Britt Allcroft and Rick Siggelkow, {seen below.} The series was produced by The Britt Allcroft Company (now Gullane Entertainment, a subsidiary of HiT Entertainment) and Quality Family Entertainment in New York for New York City’s PBS station WNET, and was originally taped in New York City and later in Toronto. It incorporated sequences from the British television show Thomas & Friends, which was in turn […]

The thrill of seeing your childhood idol. Again and again and again. Ringo Starr at the DCU center in Worcester, MA.

June 12, 2016 by evpcd

Ringo Starr brought his All Starr Band to the DCU Center in Worcester, MA last night and I was lucky enough to be there and see him for the “I’ve lost track” time. 2nd row. Dead center. It was more like a private show. Ringo seemed to love playing to the first few rows. Which of course I was more than happy to be in. I can’t seem to get enough of his shows. I’ve seen Ringo many times and […]

Ringo Starr’s HBO Special “Off The Record,” Hosted by Dave Stewart. And a killer signed poster.

June 7, 2016 by evpcd

An amazing piece I’m thrilled to add to my growing Ringo and Beatles collection. OBTAINED DIRECTLY FROM ONE OF THE CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS OF THIS PROGRAM MARK FARRELL. THE POSTER MEASURES 4′ X 5.’ IT’S A BLACK AND WHITE HEAD SHOT FROM 1965 OF RINGO. IT WAS USED AS A BACK-DROP FOR THE SET DESIGN STAGE. (IT CAN BE SEEN HANGING IN THE REAR OF THE STAGE DIRECTLY BEHIND WHERE RINGO IS SEATED.) THE PHOTO WAS ALSO USED AS THE […]

Advertising and Marketing The Doors. A dream assignment?

May 12, 2016 by evpcd

I’ve been in the marketing/advertising biz for over 30 years. And with the exception of a handful of very cool projects, working with Slash for the L.A. Zoo, and Guitar Hero for Aerosmith, I’ve never really had the opportunity to market a band. My background is graphic design and illustration so it’s no surprise my collection is driven by what I find visually appealing. I began to look at the ads created by Elektra and placed in music trade publications […]

The Doors L.A. Woman. Motel money murder madness.

May 9, 2016 by evpcd

This is hands down my favorite Doors album. Period. And L.A. Woman might be my favorite Doors song. Jim as his best. Honest and raw. I’ve looked for any memorabilia connected with this album and while there isn’t much, I’ve managed to track down a few items. The following was taken from teamrock.com. http://teamrock.com/feature/2014-11-05/the-20-greatest-doors-songs In which Mr Mojo Risin’ declares his love for all the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows and the City of Light in particular. The original handwritten […]
